Make contactless cash withdrawals from the ATM
- Find the nearest contactless ATM
- Unlock the iPhone or Apple Watch (Face ID, Touch ID, double-click on the side button) and move it to the contactless sensor
- Enter your PIN to your plastic card and continue in the manner you are accustomed to during card cash withdrawals
You can also use Apple Pay to pay on the Internet
With Apple Pay, you can also pay in the e-shops as well as directly in the applications. You can do so in any place where you find the Apple Pay button. You can do so directly from your iPhone or Mac. The condition is that you surf with the Safari browser.
How does it work? After clicking the Apple Pay button, confirm payment with the Touch ID or Face ID in the way you are accustomed to. If you have a Mac without fingerprint scanner, activate verification of payment via iPhone or Apple Watch in your Wallet.
What you need:
- iPhone with Face ID or Touch ID (excluding 5s)
- For mobile payments you can use any payment card from ČSOB or Postal Savings Bank (Poštovní spořitelna), either debit or credit. Card number, validity and 3-digit code you also find in our ČSOB Smart app and use them for digitisation of your card.
- ČSOB Smart Key app is required to confirm the digitisation of a card
- Digitising your card is easier with the ČSOB Smart app - select a specific card in the Cards section and send it to Apple Pay.
How do you activate Apple Pay?
Via the Apple Wallet application

Click the + sign in the application

Use the camera to scan the card and enter your data

Choose the verification via CSOB Smart Key app and confirm the request in it. Consequently you will receive SMS or e-mail.
Apple Watch

In the Watch application for iPhone, select Wallet & Apple Pay

For selected cards, Click Add

Confirm the request in ČSOB Smart Key and that’s it
Activation via ČSOB Smart app
- Go to section Cards
- Select the card you want to digitize
- Click on the Apple Pay button
- Digitization starts and everything is handled by itself
- Done, you will receive a confirmation of activation by SMS or e-mail
Frequently asked questions
Are payments with Apple Pay secure?
Yes. You authenticate every payment via iPhone by Touch ID or Face ID. No sensitive data or card data are stored in the mobile phone. Only one-off encrypted codes are transmitted via the Internet.
Which models support Apple Pay?
- All iPhones with Face ID or Touch ID the excluding iPhone 5s
- Apple Watch Series 1 and 2 or newer
- On-line payments are possible by iPad Pro, iPad Air, iPad and iPad mini with Touch ID or Face ID and Mac with Touch ID
- The rest of the Mac computers can be used to pay via Apple Pay on-line if you connect them to the iPhone or Apple Watch
Can I pay with Apple Pay abroad?
Yes, at all contactless terminals. Your iPhone behaves like a contactless payment card.
Do I have to be online during the payment?
No, only if you want to visualise the payment history, digitalize the card, or remove the digital card.
What is my limit for the Apple Pay payments?
The Apple Pay payments fall under the same limit as the limit for plastic card payments to vendors.
Is it necessary to permit Internet payments on the card?
Yes, if you want to use Apple Pay to pay in e-shops.
Internet payment can be set-up easily in Internet Banking (menu Cards) or in ČSOB Smart.
How much does the Apple Pay service cost?
What should I do if it is not possible to add a card to Apple Pay?
Most frequent problems are:
- Unsupported iPhone
- iOS not updated
- Touch ID, Face ID or PIN and password protection off
- Login to iCloud through Apple ID
- Setting of region

What is Touch ID and Face ID?
- Touch ID is the fingerprint reading function. Activate iPhone or Mac unlock, authentication of Apple Pay payments, shopping application or authentication to the applications (for instance, Internet banking)
- Face ID is the face recognition function. Activate device unlock, authentication of Apple Pay payments, shopping application or authentication to the applications (for instance, Internet banking)
Can I add more cards to my phone?
- Yes, up to 12 cards to the iPhone 8 and newer. A maximum of 8 cards to the older iPhone models.
- Similarly, you can add one ČSOB or Poštovní spořitelna card to up to 10 various devices.
I have cards loaded to my Apple Pay. How do I choose the one that I want to use for payment?
If you do not set it otherwise, payment through Apple Pay uses the first card that you added to the application Wallet application.
Changing the default card is simple: Press and hold the desired card in the Wallet application and pull it to the desired position on top of all the other cards to the lower edge of the screen.
How do I remove a card from Apple Pay?

In the Wallet application, select the card that you want to remove

What should I do when I lose my phone?
- You can temporarily block your cards in the Find My iPhone function. You can easily unblock them if you find the phone.
- If you are afraid that you will not be able to find the phone, you can do remote deletion of the entire iPhone (in the Find My iPhone function) and thus remove the card payment option.
- In Internet banking, you can temporarily block your plastic card - this automatically also blocks all the digital cards to this card.
- Contact the Card HelpDesk at +420 495 800 111 to block your digital and plastic cards.
Can I continue to use my plastic cards when I block or remove them from the Wallet?
Where do I see the list of all my payments with Apple Pay?
- You can see all your card payments (both plastic and Apple Pay) in a lucid list in Internet banking, in ČSOB Smart and on the bank account statement.
- In the Wallet application, you see the last ten transactions for the card selected in the given device.
What happens when the payment card expires?
- If the plastic card expires, all its digital copies are also automatically blocked.
- If the bank automatically issues a new payment card to you, then the digital cards are automatically reactivated upon activation of the plastic card (activation must be done before the expiration date of older card).
- If major change of the card occurred (e.g. change from Visa to Mastercard and vice-versa, or from Gold to Standard card), you must add the new card to the mobile again.
Potential problem with the card while adding to Apple Pay
- Invalid or inactive card
- Card does not have Apple Pay support
- Card will soon expire
- You are under 15
Can I pay with my mobile at the Czech Post Office?
At the Czech Post Office you pay by phone or smart watch for ordinary goods and services (stamps, envelopes, postage, etc.), as in a regular shop. However, it is not possible to execute transactions specific to Czech Post Office with a mobile phone or watch, such as a deposit to an account, withdrawal from an account, a payment order, payment of postal orders, etc.
