What do you need to prepare?
To open the account in a branch, all you need is your ID card (foreigners will bring a passport and other documents if applicable).
The fastest way to open a foreign currency account is online, via CSOB Smart app.
How to get a card?
Online: in CSOB Smart app > menu Cards > Arrange another card, either in plastic or virtual. The virtual card is immediately ready to be used to pay with mobile via Apple Pay or Google Pay etc.
In branch: If you also want to use a payment card with your account, there is nothing easier than applying for it when opening an account. Processing the card takes ten days. It will be delivered to your home by post.
- You can activate the card at any of our ATMs by a cash withdrawal, or with the first payment in a store – however, it is necessary to insert the card in a terminal and enter the PIN
- You can view the card PIN in the Internet Banking or CSOB Smart

The ČSOB Smart application immediately shows your balance, and you can also complete payments or arrange insurance. Additionally, the new ČSOB Smart application allows fingerprint login, easier card administration and security checks during the first application launch.

E-exchange will turn your crowns into foreign currency online
With the new E-exchange (E-směnárna) service, you can easily exchange crowns for euros, dollars or even pounds in ČSOB Smart. It takes just a few seconds to convert between your current and foreign currency accounts, so you can do it whenever you need to.
Pricelist
For accounts denominated in foreign currency, the specified fees are converted with the effective ČSOB mid-point foreign currency exchange rates (according the ČSOB exchange rate sheet) on the fee posting date. Such fees are billed in the equivalent of the account currency.
