1. How we calculated the expected returns

Investments are associated with the risk of fluctuations in value. In general, if we want to have the chance of a higher return, we have to accept a higher risk of fluctuations in value. For illustrative purposes, we present three possible scenarios for each investment strategy based on the past performance of the selected funds. Adherence to the recommended investment horizon increases the probability of achieving a neutral scenario.

Historical performance

Historical performance is calculated on the basis of actual results since 2016 and always shows a neutral scenario for each investment strategy.

Strategy Matching fund Annual volatility of a single investment Annual volatility of regular investments Historical performance p.a.
Very cautious Optimum Fund ČSOB Premium very cautious 3.00% 2.00% 1.46%
Cautious Optimum Fund ČSOB Premium balanced 6.10% 4.20% 3.06%

Data update as of 29.3.2024

As we consider funds matching investment profiles to be the building blocks of a portfolio, we have selected them for the calculation of these scenarios only as representative examples. The content of this material cannot be interpreted as the provision of investment advice or any other investment service. A given investment instrument may not be suitable for every client in terms of the target market

Probability of each scenario

It is based on long-term historical volatility and a stated probability of 90%.

Fees and taxes

The calculations include entry fees of 1.0% for the Very Cautious Fund and 1.5% for the other funds. Fund management fees and other costs are also included. These yields do not take taxes into account.

2. Description of individual strategies

Very cautious strategy

I don't like taking risks and I don't like great fluctuations in the value of my investment. I prefer to settle for a lower expected return that only slightly exceeds the yield on regular bank deposits. I want to invest for three to five years.

Cautious strategy

I would prefer to avoid risk, but if I want to at least cover inflation, I expect that the value of my investment may fluctuate slightly and that I may suffer temporary losses. I want to invest my spare money and am thinking more of a short-term investment for about three to five years.

Bold strategy

I am able to accept a certain amount of risk. I am not surprised that the value of an investment can fluctuate significantly. When the markets go down and the value of the investment decreases, I don't panic and sell. I can accept temporary losses. I wish to invest for six years or more, i.e. the medium-term horizon.

Very bold strategy

A good return means taking risks. I am not afraid of significant fluctuations in the value of the investment, nor of possible temporary losses. On the contrary, these declines motivate me to make further purchases. I don't want to touch this part of my savings for six years or more; I simply want to think about the future with this investment.

3. Risk warning

Please note that the calculations are only informative in nature. Past returns or estimates thereof do not guarantee future performance or return on investment, nor do they take taxes into account. Investment income may be taxed by law when paid out. Please also note that the investment may not be suitable for you in terms of the target market (for an explanation of what the target market is and how we assess it, please refer to the document "Important Concepts").
